‘I need to know what to say when children are crying’: a language needs analysis of Scottish primary educators learning Arabic

چکیده
This article discusses the language needs analysis which informed development of a beginner Arabic course for Scottish primary education staff who work with Arabic-speaking refugee children and families. Interviews focus group were carried out with: educators; children; parents/carers. They highlighted following course: (a) hospitality; (b) wellbeing; (c) school. In this we highlight as identified by pupils their families start discussion on importance teaching within formal educational settings.
